Round Seven: Day 13

The cow arrives with the rest of the Dutch girls and the Gouda! A small secret for you - I know how to milk a cow and I have worn real clogs for a couple of months in Belgium. I know. I’m really, really cool. Also - I’ve had a really hard time maintaining the look of my main character - he got a bit out of hand during the last few days after I became obsessed with drawing facial hair and he nearly became a yeti. Hmm - I smell a spin off - ‘Yeti Man’… Oh yeah and the big long brown thing in panel 3 is a baguette (you know it’s a real bad drawing when you have to explain what something is…). What can I say? I’m just too lazy to pencil stuff first.

Round Seven: Day 9

So finally the Dutch milk-maid arrives, accompanied by full colour. I wanted to do that kind of ‘Wizard of Oz’ thing with the black and white turning into colour when the fun arrives. Although this comic isn’t really ‘funny’ but the first panel makes me laugh. “Halp!”. I s’pose really she should be saying “Hai” but I’m not that much of a nerd. Or am I? (It’s a LOLcats thing)…

Round Seven: Day 2

Hi, my name is Leigh Rigozzi and I have not drawn a narrative comic in over a year.

My first comic is late because I’ve been working unexpected double shifts all week, so apologies are due.

I’ve actually made myself about an hour late for my second shift today trying to post this damn thing, so you’d better not give me a hard time. And clearly I’m completely non-tech savvy, because I STILL can’t figure out how to do it. I’ll try and fix it tonight. Here’s a link, which doesn’t seem to work:

Round Seven: Day 4

Well here it is, my first full page of comic artwork in years. Apologies for the crappy quality, theyre actually photos from my mobile phone as I don’t have access to a scanner at present.

This is from a Killeroo script submitted to me quite some time ago by a writer named Robin Shortt, it’s called “Urban Legends”.

The thing about this program is that the pressure forces you to move onto the next panel quickly, even when you’re not totally happy with it. I have issues with elements of every panel, things that don’t look right, inkwork that didn’t really come out the way I had intended, but at the same time there are a few things I like as well. I also learnt to read the script thoroughly, as last night I realised that Rufus is supposed to be handcuffed, but since you can’t see his hands I can still get away with that in later pages!

I guess what I’m most happy with is you can see the flow from establishing shot, to ute, to back of the ute, to Rufu’s head (I hope, you be the judge!). And while his posture is a bit weird, I quite like the texture on Rufus and the shading.
